I agree killing anything is wrong ( if you can help it )

Then you are a vegetarian right?

As far as whether it's right or wrong... that is a personal choice and I hope and pray this thread doesn't become a moral rights activist thread...

As far as if it's safe, I keep crickets to feed to my larger cichlids. They love them and eat them in one gulp. Most animals have a way of sensing what is eatable and what isn't. I'm sure we've all seen our fish suck some nasty stuff into their mouths and spit it back out. That's because they can tell what is eatable. If whatever they catch isn't eatable... they'll spit it out. I would guess any insect would be okay to try to feed them. I've never heard of ants being bad for fish but I've never asked so I couldn't argue against it either.

Okay my question has been answered, enough said I reckon.

Spiders aren't insects, they are arachnids. Still yucky though ! I only like them because I really dislike insects, except bees. :)

Jeez people, stop jumping on her for saying she believes killing anything is wrong! Its her own opinion, she's entitled to it. Don't mock her.

Personally, I wouldn't ever feed my fish insects or anything of that nature due to the risk of pesticides and other things we humans spray all over our houses and lawns.

I don't think anyone jumped on her nor mocked her. If my comment was taken that way... I can't say I'm sorry… but that definitely wasn't the intent. If anything I was drawing the connection that killing for fun and killing for food can be seen completely differently. Just as most of us eat meat, so do our fish, be it in the from or processed pellets/flakes or as bugs. It’s all just nature being natural…

Very good point about pesticides.

Lynz,

I dont feed Spiders To the Fishies, but I collect the Egg sacs and Cut them open and let the fish eat the Spider Eggs. They LOVE them.

Do plants count? What about bacteria? Viruses? It really helps to be specific when you're talking about these things.
Oh my...you are now just being plain foolish

Plants, Viruses ?!?

What I stated was clear it was in context to the original post, please don't clutter up posts with you silly comments..I was only trying to add to the post not to comment on it... if your trying to tell us that my comments threw you off the entire topic of this post then I sadly can't help you..People like you seem to be in every forum I have ever been on.. :grr:

Jeez :S

Spider eggs!? I have got to try that. I read that ant eggs are loved so why not spider eggs?
As for folic acid, does any one know more about that- none of my fish have died and I have been feeding ants since they starded coming in my house last month.

my mollies love fruit flies and mosquitos although i know this is their natural diet but still fun to watch.(still saddening of the loss of life but one must die so another can live) ;)

ill have to try feeding my fish some bugs now. i bet my redtailed shark would like a lady bug.
