Ok after going to the fish shop i decided that i like all the fish lol, i just want some stock lists that i can go for from you guys. I like a mixture and i like colourful. for instance i want maybe 1-2 shrimp 1-2 snails and the rest fish that are colourful.

Give me your ideas, thanks.

In smaller tanks I am still kind of a nut for a tetra shoal and I'll look among the smaller ones until I find one I like so that the numbers in the shoal can be higher. Glowlighs? I don't know, lots of them are good. Tetras and a lot of other tropicals can really surprise you with how much more beautiful they get in your home tank after the settle in compared to what you see in the LFS. I'd lean toward more torpedo body shape if I could (many of the more aggressive ones are also more pancake shaped.. bleeding hearts, sometimes lemons.. plus these get too big, so it's the really little ones I'm talking about more.)

~~waterdrop~~

A pair of dwarf gouramis would look lovely and should settle in quite well, a school of neon tetras would also look nice and lively but you maybe restricted on actual numbers depending on the actual water volume of your tank. I would lean towards pygmy/ dwarf species of fish things like dwarf or pygmy corydoras for the bottom (around 5 or 6 would be best for them but again depends on water volume and other stocking rates). Croaking or sparkling gouramis stay small but can be a bit timid and you will be limited in how many you can keep together as the males can be a bit agro to each other. A group of all male guppies would be active and colourful and by not having females you wont end up with hundreds BUT the males may fight a bit amongst themselves it all depends on their temperments. A pair of small chiclids would probably be ok but again they are going to limit other tank mates because they can get very territorial especailly if they decide to breed. Killi fish would also probably fit in quite well, or even a group of male endlers but again steer clear of females jsut so that you are not over run .Or be really different and maybe just keep some different coloured female bettas together as the females are usually safe to be kept together unlike the males that will fight. A group of cherry barbs would also work well, lovely red once they are settled in and active.

Really it all comes down to what you are able to source and afford as well as what type of tank you want.

Maybe also do a search online for dwarf/ small or pygmy species of fish as these wont end up getting so huge that you either have to get bigger tanks or sell/ give them away.

Hi thanks for the advise, would really help if you could giveme more numbers of things i can add, honestly i am not that bothered on what i have i like them all. So numbers and names is all i need, remember shrimps and snails :D Thanks for the repliesso far ;)

Male endlers (pure strain) are beautiful and a personal favourite of mine. They are very small and you could have a good shoal of them in your tank.

Hey Whats Going On,

You Said You wanted Specifics:

7 long fin zebra Danios Beautiful Fish when brought home as said, opposed to at LFS.
5 khulli loaches another Great looking snake like fish IMO the`ll just swim around and then all of a sudden just plop themselves down on a plant and lay there and play dead Funny Sh*t.
3 Gouramis (Dwarf) 1 male 2 male

if you want khuli loaches (which are great btw) you really should have sand, as they like to burrow. mine have formed tunnels under my wood!

Ok was thinking of getting sand any way, thanks for that more specific replies like that are very welcome. Thanks for the great reply Owen

Come on people i am getting the fish over the next few days! dont want any mistakes

With about 12 US gallons, I would go with one school of fish and a few shrimp.

What about 8 cherry barbs and 2 ghost shrimp?

Or, what about 12 male endlers and 3 red cherry shrimp?

Thanks for that reply will keep it in mind, did want alot of different fish though but i know i have a small tank :)

Just read this "Some good fish appropriate for 10 gal (mine is 48 litre) tanks are guppies, platties, sparkling gourami, celesital pearl danio aka galaxy rasbora, harlequin rasbora, micro rasboras such as mosquito rasbora, ember tetra, cories under 1" such as hasbrosus or pymaeus, kuhli loaches should be OK, scarlet badis, betta, dwarf gourami".

For color I'd say guppies, and there are so many varieties you can get different looking fish all in one species. Maybe seems boring but I think guppies are just wonderful!
