Fish Choice Help

Ok how about some lamp eye, a few guppies and then shrimp and snails? How many guppies? male / female etc..?

7 lamp eye
2 guppie
1 Dwarf Puffer
5 Harlequin Razbora

How does this sound?

I'd go for 10 tiger barbs and a few cory fish to go with that :D

Tiger barbs are too big and boisterous for a 48l.

Don't try putting a dwarf puffer with other fish, they're very aggressive.

Flutter moth what would you put in place of the dwarf puffer?
7 lamp eye
2 guppie
5 Harlequin Razbora

?

Do i need male / female of any of the above?

Dwarf African Aquatic Frog
£3.45
African Dwarf Frogs are cute, hardy, and very mild tempered. They are truly aquatic and do not need to get out of the water. They do very well in a small tank with one Betta, some peaceful Shrimp, Apple Snails and some Live Aquatic Plants. But unlike those animals these frogs need to eat bloodworms at least twice a week.

African Dwarf Frogs will congregate together in a corner or under an ornament. They seem to enjoy being together, so it's probably best to keep more than one together.

These frogs will live a few years and grow to be about 1.25" long.

These sound good they dont need to get out of the water?

I'd consider the tank fully stocked with the lampeyes, rasboras and guppies.

I don't know anything much about ADFs, but I think they should be kept in a species tank.

I think you're expecting too much from such a small tank. There's nothing wrong with just having one (or two if you insist!) shoal of small, nicely coloured fish.

Don't know about the others but stick with only male guppies unless you want babies, babies, babies.

My brother has ADF in a species tank, but they are good for peaceful communities from what I've read. The concern in such a small aquarium with them and fish though is that unlike fish the frog finds food by smell not sight. So, you have to be careful that they are actually getting to eat the food. My brother loves his frogs though. The male serenades his two females every night! :good:

The frogs do need some sort of plant (real or fake) so that they can sleep with their "nose" just out of the water for breathing.

There are some folks in the other pets section who might be able to give you some tips on ADFs in a small community tank.
