Hi, just put 6 new zebra danios into our tank, seem in good health and enjoying their new home. They seem drawn to the filter flow and keep swimming into the current, getting swept down to the other end and then starting all over again! This is fun to watch but is this normal?. Is the flow too strong?. Will it stop them sleeping?. There is plenty of shelter for them elsewhere.

It's perfectly normal for danios to do this, they come from fast flowing streams in the wild, so they will swim the current in an aquarium.

Danios come from fast flowing water but if the filter is too powerful on a small tank they can be injured or killed! What size tank do you have and what kind of filter is on it? Usually a tank filter has a rating of at least 10 times the tank size each hour.

Hi, we have a hagen fluval 2plus. its for an aquarium up to 20 galls - and pumps 400 l/hr, however, we dont have it set to full at the mo, only about half, they seem ok but we will have to keep an eye on them.
