I've never had problems with any of my pieces of wood, but I've read that this is not unusual and nothing to worry about. It should go away on its own!
So I made some changes already,
I pulled out the anacharis on the right side and replaced it with potamogeton gayi.
Also I attached some moss on the top piece of wood.
And I added a bunch of bacopa monieri next to the bacopa caroliniana.
I apologize now if I butchered any of the names. Please correct me if I did lol
Just bought a uv sterilizer... Has announce used one of these.. Do they actually work?
The amazon reviews were mostly positive and I checked on petco too which were mostly positive too.
It's called the green killing machine uv sterilizer with power head. I have a hob filter so obviously no in line ones would work
Haha, that's a perfect side-benefit getting those snails then! It does look pretty yucky that fungusy stuff, hopefully they will put an end to it! Love that pic of the piggy-backing amano shrimp on the snail!
So I got my uv sterilizer today, it's all hooked up I'm going to take a picture each day so I can see if it works, and haw fast. I made a few changes in my tank but no way am I posting pics till it clears up a bit.
Woah! This little uv sterilizer is really amazing. My water is looking pretty good already, it has been running since about 7 pm yesterday (about 14 hours) and I see a big difference already. I'm going to wait till its 24 hour and than take a pic.
Some kill pathogens in the water and they also kill free floating algae (green water) and clear up cloudy water. My water has been very cloudy since I put the wood in and it cleared up a lot since I started using the sterilizer. The one I got is only 9 watts so it probably won't kill many pathogens just the algae, they have other more powerful ones that are for canister filters (I have a hob)
