Hi everyone! we just bought our first tank (25 gallons) 2 weeks ago and are very excited about it! we currently have 5 platies and 4 mollies. quick questions... as we weather out the new tank syndrome and try to cylce our tank it is a good idea to add extra bubblers to the tank? also for any mollie owners - my male mollie is not paying any attention to the 3 females (in fact he hides from them) is this normal?
thanks!
Val

Welcome to the forum! Mollies and platties are very cool! I'll let others answer the bubble question - I've no idea. Your male may be immature or the "new tank" situation may have him a little off his game.

howdy

for the bubbles i dont have any in my 10 gallon and the fish are awsome. if you put a bubbler in, try not to take it out. because the fish get so used to having well oxygenated water when you take it out they might be gasping for oxygen at the surface.

if you need anything else PM me.

by ther way :hi: to the forum. it is a great place.

Hello and welcome to the forum.
It is often a dangerous thing to do, but almost all newbies to this hobby does it, and that is to have as many fish in the tank as you have whilst cycling it.
Have a look in the beginners question section. You will probably find the answers you need in there, if not PM me and I will try and help.

:hi:

I'm not sure if the bubbles help while cycling, but I use them anyway. I agree with Alaska about the male platy possible being "off his game" because of new tank syndrome.

thanks everyone! the info on this site is just great. i look forward to learning from all of you... see you in the other forums!
