Hey guys,

My fish recently got hit with ich and I've been using kordon's 100% herbal ich treatment morning and night everyday for the past week. It seems that one of my guppy has it and my rubblerlip pleco has a bad case of it. I did a 75% water change the day I found out about it and another one after it last week. Today I tested my water levels and my ammonia, nitrate and nitrite seem to all be at 0 PPM. Does this mean my water is properly cycled? Also, should I just continue treatment? The most my stock top fin heater can make my water temperate is 84 it seems so that is what its been hovering.

On another note, aside from my pleco being infected, I've been trying hard to get it to eat anything else but I've failed. I've tried blanched zuchinni, cucumber, tomato, lettuce and no luck at all. The only thing I've seen him eat is algae which used to be in the old tank before I moved him to the new tank. And I've seen him eat my algae wafers as well. I'm trying to give him variety, but it doesn't seem to work. I've been looking for a good deal on driftwood to see if that will help him.

Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

How long has the tank been set up for?

Almost all plecos require driftwood in their diet, they like to munch on it so it will be good if you can find some to add :)
Algae and algae wafers are what most people feed their plecos, you could try sinking pellets? You could also try some peeled peas?

I'd say it has been a good 2 months. A week and half ago it was reading ammonia 0.25, nitrite around 0.25ppm and nitrate pretty close to 3.5 PPM. Now all 0 it appears. That's OK right?

I've got a cobra endler guppy, a baby cobra endler guppy, two platys and the pleco.

Here are pics, everyone says this is a rubblerlip pleco, but do correct me if I'm wrong: http://imgur.com/a/SW45R#0

my friend feeds his plec cucumber

Sounds like its cycled then. Keep an eye on the results though in case anything spikes.

If you're thinking of adding anymore fish, wait till the ICH is cured. When you do add more fish, keep an eye on the results as you more than likely will go through a mini-cycle while the bacteria catches up to the bioload.

I'm terrible at identifying Plecos so I won't comment on yours :p

Yeah, cucumber works too. Does he remove the seeds?

yeah he does.
Sorry to hear you have ick !!!!!! its horrible my betta has just had it, god knows how all my water conditions are perfect....

but I have treated him and he is fine now !!

Yeah, the kordon ich treatment does not seem to be helping. I may need to resort to a real non-herbal solution as the kordon version is 100% natural herbal version. It's saddening just how bad one of the guppy and pleco is filled with ich.  I feel horrible and will get something for them as soon as I can.

Is your NitrAte reading showing 0 as well? That would not be good!

What about Quick Cure???...this will take care of  the ick. I just use it 4 days ago for 3 days. I had my water change a while ago today. Kept the temp. at 84 degrees and added salt. I will continue to do it to be sure no more ick floating around etc for what 2 weeks?
Maddox, I just lost a few of my fish last week due to ick. Came from a pregnant black molly and two guppies and exposed to my other fish. Lost my loach

, 4 guppies, blk molly and her babies. I saved my bumblebee catfish. It seems to be ok so far so good, but its not over yet. So hang in there. Keep the temp at 84 and add ick med or salt. I did used Kordon ick and I didn't think it helped mine at all as they all died. Until I did the water changed and increased the temp to 84-86 and added salt too. Then I got the Quick Cure from a fish expert who carries it. I could not find it anywhere and had to travel long distance. Its all worth it. The quick cure helps.

Maddox, do not wait too long. as the ick goes from 1 stage to 3 stages. if your fish reaches second stage, you may be able to save them. If third stage, its could be too late as its covered mostly white spots losing oxygen in the gills, breathing hard and die.

What size do you buy as I only have a 20 gallon right now. I read some reviews and it looks like the product works with the reviews so far, but need to use small dosage as it's very strong. I looked up some prices, but kind of expensive for what little you get. Where do you usually buy it for a good deal?

Yes, nitrate is showing 0. What should I do then?

Just get the 100ml ebay is gonna be the cheapest place, 100ml will last you for the problem you have now, but its always better to have these things in stock like I said my beta just had ick I think it was from the frozen food or live food, just make sure you remove all the carbon from your filter because it will stop the treatment from working, and keep it out for at least 2 weeks.

If you need anymore help just ask.

Are you using test strips to test your water or the liquid test strips?

It is strange that after a week since the last water change you have no readings of anything. A cycled tank has 0 Ammonia, 0 Nitrite, but readings of Nitrate!

Only thing that worked was Mardel Quick Cure.  3 days no more syptoms, give it a try.

It's important to remember that there are a lot of medication resistant strains of ich around, so if one med doesn't work for you it doesn't mean the med is, in any way, rubbish or not effective, just that the particular strain of ich you're dealing with is resistant to it, and you'll have to try another.
