First Time Breeding Bettas

As long as you don't have a huge jump in fatalities, it should be ok :). *pats*

Really, I'd never jar 3 week-olds ever. They need the stability of a big heated tank and a filter, and it'll be sooo much less of a pain for you. In a month or so, start consider jarring!

Yeah. Thanks.

I'm learning daily that the best way to deal with it is to just let nature take its course. As long as I'm doing the best I can with religious water change and observing for sickness, I can get through.

I will remember your advice. Many thanks!

You can jar some in my house. I still have empty Jars ;)

Yes. The parents look like they're ready to spawn again.
Its getting even more exciting. Everyday, the fry develop and are getting bigger and bigger.

I have to second that. Everyday I take a few good looks at the fry because there was almost always something new to see. Yesterday, I noticed that many of mine seem to be developing some red on their bodies! B)

Oooh, I hope I do get some really nice ones that will look like the parents.

Dad is now getting ready for spawning again...

The fry is now officially 3 weeks old... bigger ones are manifesting colors blue and green and have ventrals.
The smaller fry are not as transparent like before.

Thakfully I lost only two over the weekend. Smalll little fry that probably are too weak. :)

I was about to do water change this afternoon and this is what I found:

Bottom-feeding fry :D

I'll change the water later in the evening instead.

Lordy, there are a bajillion of them!!

Currently, around 150 fry or so.
Looks like I have to move half of them in another 10 gallon tank... or two. :S

No deaths for two days... Yipee! :hyper:

I noticed one fry witha slightly crooked body. You can see the form on the shaped spine. It's a big one though... and a bully too! Hope it gets corrected in time.

It's also getting easier to clean the tank as the fry can now move away from the siphon stick I made.
Voracious BBS eaters they have become. I now started another BBS hatchery because of the escalating demand by these little dragons.

The fry will be 5 weeks old on Monday (tomorrow). I'm getting ready to separate half of the fry into another 10 gallon tank. Suddenly, the 10g where they are staying became crowded. The fry have grown very quickly.
I used to complain about fry dying on me. Now, I'm worried that 150 + fry is too much to handle.

I can probably blame Synirr's advice in another thread about 75% water change! My they DO grow at a rapid rate.

I now have three kinds of fry in the tank... small transparent fry that look like days-old, bigger fry complete with ventrals showing colors and large dark more intensely colored fry with attitude.

There's a lot of promise in many of them. I'm crossing my fingers.

Individual tanks... OH where am I going to place them all! :-(

very nice! do you have a picture of them? i don't have to worry anywhere near as much as you. I should have no problem getting rid of 9 fry ;)

Cheers,

-Ian
