wow those are some biggins lol...I would love to see what kind of babys they would produce...

Yes breed thwm quick so I can BUY some babies! :hey:

They're AMAZING wuv...Man I must get some....I have an empty 20 gallon I was considering a pair of kribs for,but now I'm thinking some giants would be SO much cooler. :hyper:

Hurry and breeeeeeeeeeeeeeed!

LOL

Thanks you guys, they're pretty darn cute. And after finding out the male is only 4 months old...he's huge for his age! Already the length of my index finger, I wonder how big they get :hyper: :hey:

But I'm a bad,bad girl :*) I bought another set of bettas from her last night, not giants..but :*)

My lfs asked me to be their primary betta breeder when they open the new shop this year, so I've got to start gathering stock, they're basically an investment (thats what I tell the hubby anyway  ) ;)

Wow! Your LFS will have quality bettas in there won't they! I sure wish they were opening near me!

Congrats on your "new job"! :kana: :kana:

I think everyone here would buy some giants if you bred them!

How much did they cost you if you don't mind me asking? You could make a killing off of them!

Thanks guys! I'm pretty excited about it...but I have no room so I'm taking over the extra bedroom, which is usually used as a giant toybox of my daughters :sly:

Auratus~ The giants cost me 120, I think  plus shipping. IMO they were worth it, she had some chocolate giants yesterday for 150.00..every set she had is gone already.

55~ they're pretty big. They're still fry
... in a way (4 months), and they're already well over 3"

The new ones that I ordered (not sure if I was quick enough to grab them first though, still waiting to hear) are the emerald dawn (?) green bodied with golden finnage

The best news of all...I have orange fry!!! They're only 5 days old and I only wound up with 3 survivors. I've had such terrible luck with them, I've read that oranges are very hard to breed and I quickly learned why. :X
But the 3 seem to be doing good so far, I've been watching them eat microworms off the bottom and picking daphnia off the glass ,so they're eating
They're boring as hell but I sit and watch them for hours

Congrats Wuv on the fish breeding business and the babies :) I still haven't had a successful spawn, I've had eggs twice but the male ate them both times (I don't think he fertilized them), they are young though, not even 5 months, so that may be the problem.

How are the Giants doing? All settled in and still trying to get to each other? Lol

Linda

Thank you Linda :D

I'm pretty pleased, but still a nervous wreck. I gotta say, the orange male is the most frustrating fish...he's also an egg eater :sly: , I have to take him away from the nest everytime. The LAST time I spawned them I had at least 200 fry hatch....I sat in horror and watched as they were eaten by planaria :( After that I swore I'd leave him in no matter what. But when I saw him in there this time, guzzling eggs...I yanked him out so fast his head spun. Right now the fry are eating like pigs..after I hit the 1 week mark I'll be relieved...then I'll worry until two weeks, three weeks and so on.

The Green Giants (ho ho ho,green giant  ) are doing great. They eat so MUCH! And they're constantly scanning the divider looking for each other

I'm just unsure how to go about spawning them :dunno: , I'm obviously not going to be able to do it in the 20, the way I'd planned -_- ...maybe a 10 will work for spawning

Also...I missed out on the Emerald Dawns :X , I was too slow

As If it is, Then That is what mine is that I call Granny Smith.
Will Have to Change his Name To Emerhald.

I thought mine was a Double Tail, But looking at the Pix on Bettatalk, Its the same but not as developed yet.
