First Fish Tank

yeah i was actually thinking about that, the angel is about 4 inches tall from the top fin to bottom fin is he already too big? i did want to have a better shoaling(or is it schooling?) effect in the tank as well. i heard that both the x ray tetras and danios do best is groups of about 6 or more.
so what would be the best way to do this?

would a 15 gallon be large enough for 6 danios and 6 x-ray tetras, i would also want to have some sort of "center piece fish"
i will head over to my lfs sometime this week to see if they can take my angel.
and as for the algae eater, i havent had any problems yet, but if i do notice something i will transfer him to my empty tank. any ideas on the algae issue? i have 2 23 watt flourecent bulbs on for around 8 hours a day sometimes more.

thanks a lot

Technicaly yes, but from my honest point of view I wouldnt keep danios in anything less than a 30 gal as they are extremely active and require plenty of swimming space.

thanks for the input, and i have noticed how active the danios are and if the lfs will take them back as well, maybe i can start over with new types of fish.
i was looking into cardinal tetras though i hear they can be sensitive when transported but hardy once settled.
so i was thinking for them to shoal or school properly i would need 6 of them

that puts me at
6x cardinal tetras
6x xray tetras

would they be compatible?

also would the coloration of cardinal tetras be a problem if i decided to add a betta?
any suggestions are welcome

they shouldn't be an issue but again, depends on the betta in question. Your danios will be fine in a tank that size, the majority of smaller fish are fast and darty, if we were to go by that rule of thumb, then no small fish or fish at all would be suited to any tank under 50gals

Although, saying that about the danios, they may be nippy with a betta.

ok so i was able to give the angel and the 3 zebra danios back to the lfs. (This is a 15 gallon tank)

i bought new plants, 6 neon tetras and a crowntail betta

so right now i have
6 neon tetras
2 x ray tetras
1 crowntail betta

here is a quick picture of the tank. any advice for further stocking would be appreciated

i was thinking of either getting 4 more x ray tetras, or maybe giving back the ones i have now and getting another small school of fish

i added more neon tetras so now i have
11 neon tetras
1 crowntail betta
2 xray tetras

i think i might be able to add a few more fish, since these neon tetras are so small. i might get rid of the x rays
i was thinking of getting some kind of shrimp, maybe a few amano or cherry shirmps
