Cool, its starting to come alive, love the porcelain crab :good:

The weird things are likely to be hydromedusa (sp), just more food for your tank mates

He looks amazing! little character to him aswell!

Ive got some pics u might find amusing! I will post them under this :D

Yea those wierd things have been getting pesterd by the clown fish! a few have missing legs

Im starting to think about what esle I can get for the tank. I am aware i will only be able to add another 2 - 3 fish maybe.

And I realy would like a yellow watchman goby, but what other fish would you suggest? I wont be getting them for a while but just intrested and would like to have a look.

The porcelaine crab taking a ride on a turbo! He made it half way up the glass before bailing

Yes, i would consider the watchman or a blenny and maybe flasher wrasse or an orchid dottyback

Thanks Seffie!

Unfortunatly its goin to be even longer before anything else is introduced,

One of the clown fish died last night :(
Somthing had attacked it and its tail fin was all torn and he had red marks all up his body!

Cant be sure but im pretty convinced it was the boxing shrimp! due to it being the only thing in there capable.

Absolutly gutted

Trying to swap the shrimp with some one for a cleaner shrimp or sumthing now just as a precorsion. If any body is intrested in a swap let me no!

Right Lots off change over the weekend and lots to share so bare with me with this post :p

Right . . .

The day after my clown fish died I found a tear in the other fishes tail so i knew I had to do somthing! Fortunatly he wasnt hurt as bad but now has a blunt tail with an almost perfectly straight line down his tail missing. It was a bit torn and it looks as tho somthing cleaned it up for him since it happend???

Soon as I got the chance I caught the shrimp and lugged him down to my LSF. I expalined what had happend and asked the fella to take him off my hands and he was kind enough to do so.

Whilst i was there i had a conversation regarding replacing the clown fish and he sorted me out with a clown fish that is a good size to introduce to into the tank without causing a fight!

I also got a cleaner shrimp to replace the boxer!

So over the weekend ive gone back to 2 clown fish who are best friends already :D and a new cleaner shrimp who loves cleaning my hand :D

I found a dead snail being eaten by a brisstle worm, so that came out and ohh my did it smell  i cleaned it up in boiling RO water and removed any bits of snail meat left then threw the shell bak in for the hermits!

Ive been feeding my emerald crab some crab pellets to ensure he is eating enough however i caught him dragging a hermit crab shell first under a rock! I seem to be having bad look with any creature that has the potential to cause trouble but genraly dosnt.

I have also been thinking of a possible adition to the tank maybe at the end of the year which is a mandarin. So as preperation I have orderd a complete copepod culture kit to breed copepods to add to the tank. If i can breed good numbers i may look into mandarins, otherwise the culture is just a little fun way to make food :p

Sorry for the wordy thread but had lots to share :p pics will come shortly :D

I love 'wordy' updates - keep em coming :good:

Once you have your culture up and running (which is easy by the way) consider starting a second - quite often and usually unexpectedly cultures can crash  then you are left with no copepods for your baby

Little update,
Been mega busy so no pics but will try get a few on soon!

After the problem with the boxing shrimp everything seems to have calmed down now and going well again :D so ive added some more stock!

Ive gone back to 2 clownfish who seem to be doing well! one was twitching last night which scared the life out of me but after research found it it is a way of working out who is the dominant of the pair! which is good news that they may be pairing up!

Also added another cleaner shrimp to keep the one in there company! they also seem to be friends and follow each other round :D

But the best buy so far was added on saturday :D a tiger pistol and yellow watchman goby pair :D

the pistol has already got a cave system going underneath the live rock and there is piles of substrate everywhere!!! the goby is always sticking his head out of a hole sumware close by aswell! unfortunatly they seem to prefer holes towards the back of the tank so are difficult to see but hopfuly once they are more confident in the tank they will venture out a little more!

Another cool addition was a pin cushion urchin :D some of my rock is smotherd in thick coraline so he shud make light work of that :D

Bowt it so far will try add pics soon!!!

O yea the copepod culture is up and running now :D i have also got 2 more containers and will have another copepod culture up wen I harvest them for the first time! I am also going to look at how to grow photoplankton in the other! to feed the copepods! not entirly sure on that yet tho!

Thanks

Luke

Not updated for a while so just a post about whats happend and what Im planning,

currently at 2x clowns, Watchman gobg and pistol, 2x cleaner shrimp, urchin and various inverts

Just orderd 2x double t5 ballast which I will be adding to the tank over the next few days depending on delivery times. I will add 2 t5s to each of the hood lids on the tank. so will have 6 t5s in total.

Not been using the skimmer due to micro bubbles and this has not affected water quality bar some gunk ontop of the water.

My next venture after the lights are fitted is going to be a sump using an old 60ltr tank. it has a lot of chips in it so need to ensure it is water tight 1st.

Thats about it atm, copepod culture is going slower than i expected so not ready for a mandarin yet.

will add pics of the lighting wen i get them
