First Attempt Betta Tank Setup, Comments Welcome!

Going to pick test kits up tomorrow and monitor for a few days. Didnt have time to get them today

Yeah just do that. Tbh with my two little betta tanks that's all I did. Once it stayed ok test wise for a few days I got my betta and haven't had any problems since.

just right quick, STAY AWAY FROM DUCKWEED.... i thought it would look nice in my tank! I ended up having to do a COMPLETE water change to get it all out, it was getting to the point where i couldn't even feed the fish anymore because it ruled the entire surface of the water

Heh, thanks for the warning, never had it in my tank before till I got some hitchhikers while purchasing other plants. Thought they were cute...need to remind myself not everything cute is good! Gonna try and remove them while I still can. Sighs...they really ARE cute tho...

Didnt consider duckweed, thinking about a bit of frogbit thought. Would this be overkill? Not sure if the filter box at the top would be a problem, i bet marie knows

I don't know much about frogbit, but, I'm thinking of getting some water lettuce. It's big enough that it'll be easy to remove... unlike duckweed that's like a virus and its like the glitter of the fish world.... (yes, i do hold a grudge against duckweed now lol) Like this one I found on aquabid. It also kind of looks like frogbit and duckweed

What sort of light is that over the tank? (Wattage and type of bulb are useful)

11 low voltage LEDs, the lights are actually in the water, so im guessing i cant have them as they would be above my lights anyway.

Thanks, i wanted wood in the first place but silly me thought all wood was bogwood

Very true. I have 3 dogs, one is an old timer now aged 15.
