Since changing to sand I’m finding it hard to get the rubbish off the sand

I waft the vac about the sand but it just doesn’t seem to get the stuff up and away it just falls back down the vac

Any tips please

I find if you use a gravel vac the suction is never strong enough. I just use the end of a hose or tube🙂

I use just the flexible tubing part without that wide rigid piece on the end. The narrower opening seems to create greater suction so the debris is easily sucked up and doesn't fall back. The downside is that without the wider bit, the siphon is shorter. But you can buy lengths of tubing on eBay, for example

To start the siphon, either put one end in the tank and suck on the other end, or fill the tubing with water at the sink first.

Al give that a go next time I’ve got plenty of tube so al give that a go next time

I use a gravel vac on my sand but I also use a siphon with nearly 12' of hose below the water level, I have to constrict the flow slightly to prevent sucking up too much sand.
