At last the 18l tank has cycled. This took all of 7 weeks to cycle, but it was worth the wait.I added a small piece of driftwood and attached moss along its length.I also added 2 plants from a pond I was fishing at,I thought I would experiment to see if they would survive.one died, but the second one has survived so far,but I haven’t a clue what it is or wether it will grow in the long term, but it looks like a miniature lily of some sort.I bought a small light for it and one of those leaf hammocks as I have a full moon betta ordered. The great nephew will be mesmerised by it.I’ve also chucked in some sessiliflora cuttings from my tank and I’ve left them floating. All that’s left to do is give the glass a good clean as it’s covered in brown algae.
I will post a photo of the plant in the planted tank thread.

Hopefully, you didn't introduce any nasties from the pond plants, I'm always wary of that, if they are not treated before introducing to a tank

I think it will be ok slaphppy7.
Obviously it takes more than a hunch to prove it,but it’s a pond in bonnie bonnie Scotland, say no more, and besides, even covid was wary of coming here in case it caught a bug??

That's a pretty small tank! What are the dimensions? Would love to see it and all the plants!
It’s not big at all,but it’s a chance for them to dip their toe into the fish keeping world, and maybe they will enjoy it enough to take a bigger step with a bigger tank, who knows.

So I think the plant is frogbit, which I’ve mistakenly planted in the gravel ha.I will take it out tomorrow. It was planted into the pond bottom though
