Yeah, I have kept Oscars in a tank with sand/gravel. Impossible to clean up all the mess so thought bare bottom was the way to go.

Nice sized tank, I love that green terror hes got great markings. I too went bare bottomed when I had a couple of Oscars (although I dont have them anymore) as even when small they pooped for england  and it was a nightmare to clean up from the gravel, much easier without IMO.

Although personally I believe they should be potty trained to save even more hassle

The fish are beautiful but might it be an idea to put in a cave or something for the Lnumber. Cichlids aren't known for their friendliness!!! :hyper:

Love the tank, never really done the bare bottom thing but it looks quite good. Your Green Terrors are the Gold Saum variety by the looks of it, the False Green Terror. In my opinion they are much nicer. I would say that as I have one :good: Looking good, what are you changing the stocking too?

I'm a bit confused as to how a "finally got it setup" tank will have the stocking changed...

enlighten me?

Hey ReMz/shelagh

I mean in terms of equipment. I've been planning it for about a year, got the tank and parts about 6 weeks weeks ago and have just got round to setting it up!

The stocking is obviously not sutible in the long term. I'll have to take out the Festivum and at least one of the GT's when they get a bit bigger or it will all kick off.

Thanks shelagh. The Rio's are really nice tanks, the inspection flaps make maintainence really easy and they look super. Great minds think alike

Wilde.
