I've been having some problems in my tank lately with fish dying but after some great help on here from @wilder and a few others my remaining fish are on the mend and looking a lot happier and healthier.
I've been after a piece of wood as a centrepiece for months, to finish the look off, but haven't found anything I have liked enough to justify the insane prices of wood.
I tried one piece.....
Which I had to cut....
But after 2 months of soaking, and water that still looked like strong tea and more bouyancy than a life jacket I gave up on it.
It's my birthday today (yay!) so me and the missus have taken the day off work and visited a variety of LFS today in search of bits for the tank and found a great piece of wood
I've been after a spindly bit like a tree branch that the fish can swim around and through and hey presto, I found a piece....
I've given it a good scrub and its currently in the bath to see how many tannins are released...
I think its a great piece and only cost £24, a bargain as far as I'm concerned.
There is only one problem, I have to figure out how to fit it in my tank......I have a juwel vision 180 bow front, but forgot it has a support bar that runs across the top through the middle....I measured the piece before I bought it and it will fit but I don't know if I can fit it around or twist it past the support....
I'll find out tomorrow.
But with my fish getting better and hopefully the perfect piece of wood, I have a renewed enthusiasm for fish
