i am breeding these fish and i need a grow out tank what is the smallest one you can buy without stunting the fishes growth i was thinking about a 20 gallon long but im not sure if you have imput please tell me

thanks
Josh

depends how many fry you have really,
most of the time you can leave the fry with the parents untill you think they are big enough. Then you can sell them.
Some people have up to 50 gallon tanks, just for grow outs. But as i said, it depoends how many fry you have.
But don't take my word for it.
There are a few members out there that will tell you correctly, as i have never been able to breed these fish sucsesfully.

The best size tank is as large a tank as you can buy. But as long as you stick to the rule of 12"sq for every inch of fish you should be okay. So lets say you have twenty fry and you want to get them up to an 1.5" you would need a tank of about 360"sq or a 30" x 12" tank. You also need to do lots of water changes about 20% every 5 days and feed than 3 times a day and they should reach this size in about 4 to 6 months. You can use smaller tanks but you need to do more water changes.

well 30 gallons all i can afford so thats what ill get thanks for being so helpfully i really apericiate it :D

I would say that you could only grow out one or two batches of fry at a time in a 30 gallon. That is depending on how many actual fry you manage to save (you could really only hold about 20-30 fry to grow out in that tank).
