I have a gorgeous male betta right now who has fin rot. I have salt in his water and am changing the water every 2 days. He is in a 1/2 gal container(I know, kinda small), and the PH is 6.2, the hardness is 0 and the alkalinity is 0. What do suggest I buy as treatment?

First, do your water changes every day for the time being. Keep using the salt with every water change.

Try getting some Blackwater Extract or Indian Almond Leaves. You may be able to find Blackwater Extract at local fish stores...just ask them if you can't find it, and they may have it. They may also order it for you. Indian Almond Leaves, you'd probably have to order off the internet, off Ebay or Aquabid. They'll aid in healing significantly.

Another option is colloidal silver. You should be able to find a low dosage of it at your local GNC.

the trick to defeating finrot is to just starte to small cures like salt and clean water, and if that doesn't work, then u get into chemicals, no reason to medicate a fish that doesn't need any. finrot is very common and is not a threat unless it appears to be getting really close to the fish's body, no need to worry, plenty of time to fool around with remedies before it gets serious. it may also help to have an airstone going in his tank for circulation, this should clear ur boy up in a jiff
