I have an angelfish that is dealing with fin rot and I made sure that It wasn’t a rip by waiting for a couple of weeks. I did frequent water changes in hopes of letting him heal but to no avail. I saw that it was slowly progressing and didn’t want to wait until it got bad.
Should I use API fin rot medication in quarantine tank or is it okay to dose in main tank?

For making a quarentine tank, I know I need to do water changes frequently but how would that work during treatment?

I am not an expert with fish diseases so I hope someone else will come to chime in but what are your water parameters and how did you do the water changes (rough %)?

If your water parameters are good and you use medicine my first line of thought would be to use melafix as it would be less stressful for the fish rather than the API cure. With melafix, make sure you have a O2 pump as it makes it harder for O2 to dissolve at the surface. I would wait till someone else comments as well, but if you could post the water parameters that would be a lot of use.

Also, I can’t tell from the picture, but is that white area at the ends of the fin or is it more fungus like? From the experience I have, and I would not take this as complete fact, no white fin rot usually would signify water parameters, white lines bacteria or damage from fish, and white fuzz fungus. I think @Essjay has helped me in the past if I remember with diseases.

It is indeed white at the end not fuzzy thou. I do water changes 1 or 2 times a week and I do take out about 30% to 50% out of my 37 gallon tank. I also do gravel cleaning frequently as well.

Water parameters: ammonia and nitrate 0
Nitrate: 10-20

That nitrate is quite high usually above 10 is already bad. What % of what changes did you do
