Filter For A 10g (best One Avalable)

I would say a Fluval 2 + would be too strong for a 10 Gallon. I have one in a 20 gallon and at have it on the lowest output setting - and even then there is a fairly strong current. I suspect it would blast fish all over the place in a 10 gallon. A Fluval 1 is suited for 12 Gallons but as far as I know there is no flow control on the Fluval 1.
In my opinion your best bet is probably something like the
Elite Stingray 10.

What is the flow control used for? , because my tank isn't really wide so if your saying that a fluval 2 on the lowest setting creates a stong currents in a 20 gallon then I'd have to rethink my filters!! :/

The flow control is a little lever that will allow you to adjust the output force of the water. On my highest (strongest) setting, they little fish clearly get influenced by the current and will often get caught up in it and can see them "carried" by the current. On the lowest output setting, they seem fine, though there is still a very slight current in the tank and I can see my plants move gently with it.
So based on my own observations, I'd say that Fluval 2+ would even still be too strong for a 13 gallon (in your case). Depending on your stocking levels and the type of fish you plan to keep, you might find a Fluval 1 perfectly adequate for your your tank. Though I've not had a Fluval 1 and from what I know, they do not have the flow control.

Perhpas others have better ideas for 10 and 13 gallons (in the UK) ? :dunno:

My 10 gall came with a rena fillstar internal I try to keep it at medium and the guppies love playing in the water flow (as in they can swim in and out of the flow easy) at the lowest setting there is little flow so would be betta safe too?
