Heres a few pics of Luda the betta been with me for 3 weeks now he is currently awaiting a new tank but seems happy enough just now always busy with bubble nests. He looks black but when he catches the light he is a nice purple/blue colour

Would a 25L tank be big enough for him I know people keep them in jars and vases but im no really into that looks kinda cruel, He's in a 10L tank just now

i keep my betta in a 25l, with 4 harlequin rasboras, 1 african dwarf frog, 1 flying fox, and 2 platies.

i am thinking about replacing the harlequins and platies with 6 guppies, and when the flying fox grows he will be going into my bigger tank ( i didnt realise how big they got untill i saw 1 fully grown the other day)...but for now i have no water problems, no harrasing problems, no problems what so ever (touch wood) so yea i think 25l is fine for a betta, and some tank mates.

Awesome might get him a few buddies im feeling corys though pygmy maybe but ive no idea where to get them locally

You should use that first pic as your avatar.

As much as I would love to say to get some tetras to put in with him, I am gonna say no. My VT does well with the tetra in a 30ltr but he can get a bit narky with them.

I would say croy's would be a better choice, seeing as they stay low and out of the betta's path. Although, do your research on them and go for a smaller one, because they do grow :good:

a 25l would be perfect for him, if any tank mates added then either pygmy cories as you said or shrimp (bit of a trial and error)

i must say i wouldnt reccomend neons, i had 4 (small 1s) in with my betta at first, then they started going missing so i took the remaining 2 back to lfs. the guy thinks they probably pestered the betta till he reacted in self defense.....which resulted in them dying.

if you want something different why not try a red clawed crab, or a vampire crab? google atlantis under water islands, this set up with a betta would be really cool.

its a lot more fun with more fish, corys are a good idea but as other people are saying watch out for there size so go for dwarf breeds

if you chose to grow live plants in the tank, let them grow for a few months (to make sure they will say healthy in your particular set up) and get a few otos if the plants do well. they are great betta tankmates and keep the plants healthy too! pygmy cories or shrimp are another great choice.
cheers

just to let you know (if your interested that is) i have done some changing around with my fish tanks and now keep in my 25l tank with my fighter. 1 flying fox, 1 african dwarf frog, and 10 harlequin rasboras.

I'd watch out for your test levels, that amount of fish in a small space will cause some issues, so keep an eye out x

So I have finished his little setup, It now has live plants (a few from my big tank and a few new ones) a moss covered coconut cave and a few nice pebbles, He has a Snail, 2 Ammano Shrimp, 2 Cherry Shrimp, 1 Bamboo Shrimp, 1 Baby Bristlenose (Only in there for a bit coz he is tiny and i need 2 get rid of a common plec before i put him in mine and 4 Tiny Neons again they were for mine but when i put them in they got harrased so moved them there for time being.

Need a few suggestions for my 28L Bowfront now though currently 1 Betta and a few plants

Pictures now because everyone loves pictures

Also how tame should female fighters be ?, i added 3 new females to my big tank did have 2 now 5 and there is no aggresion they actually school with each other and one is very tame, to the point if i put my hand in she swims over and sits in it.

They can be mutual between themselves but it could all change when you add more but it's a hit and miss tbh.

I have 3 female bettas in a 30ltr with 5 black neons and a BN. I am taking out the tetra and BN and adding 2 more female fighters. As long as there is enough hiding places, add in a couple of caves/coconut hides, tall and short plants, basically, kit the floor out, so the majority of it can be used for hiding and you should be ok to add 5 females in there IMO.

I think the females are more aggressive than the males, territorial wise.

Maybe you could add in 3 or 4 females.

got a male in bottom just now got 5 females in my big tank so looking for stuff to go with male added a silvertip to see how he went and seems fine with in in there so thats good
