Ferrets

Thanks for the advice, Nicki! I live in Canada, and there are a lot of ferret rescues there. Today I did something impulsive and stupid and wonderful... I got a second ferret!
I was walking out shopping, and I stopped at my local dog shop, and there was a trio of ferrets. Someone had dropped them off at the pet store and then abandoned them, and they were selling them for 5$ each (though I would have paid 1000$ for my little baby!).
There were three of them, two females and 1 male, and the two females were ganging up on the male, who was cowering in the corner. At first, I thought I should get one or two of the females, because I wanted a confident ferret, but when I picked the little boy up he was just so sweet and calm!!
Well, I brought him home, and believe it or not, Oscar totally accepted the new boy, because he was so submissive and calm.

Now I have two ferrets, and I'm trying to figure out a name for my new boy. Here are the candidates:

-Noah
-Jesse
-Lex
-Zander
-Canuck
-Charlie
-George

Do you have any more suggestions?

Oh congratulations!!!! I'm so happy that Oscar loves his new friend! What colour is your new boy? I love the names you have shortlisted. :good: Lex and Charlie are my favs. I have ferret friends who have ferrets named Charlie and Noah. :D

My new boy is Silver (Roan). I think it's a battle between Charlie and Noah...

I like Charlie better, but Noah seems a little more sensitive and sweet... like him!
 
I love silver colouring on a ferret, it's probably my fave. And (shhhh!!!) I do like males more.

S'ok,- I wont tell! :lol: :lol: Boys do tend to be more cuddly. Girls are normally more lively and loopy! I have five boys and four girls. Jax, Oscar and Polo are all big, cuddly boys :wub: Mistletoe loves to nip your nose if you give her the chance to get too close to your face :lol:

As for colours,- my fav colour is sandy. There are lots of shades of sandy. In America they have different names for them eg Cinnamon, Champagne. Over here they are all just labelled as sandy. Jax, Oscar and Chuck are all sandys. I've never adopted a rescue ferret for its colour though. I just take whichever is in most need of a home. Jax was partially disabled. Mistletoe had been in the rescue the longest. Then Oscar had been in the rescue the longest. Chuck was found as a stray on a building site and captured by my friends bf. Pepsi was found as a stray in someone's garden. My friend went and caught her up to take her to our local rescue. I got in there first though! Most of mine were actually found as strays and never claimed :sad: Very lucky for me though as I have got myself some extremely gorgeous fuzzies!!! :wub: :wub: :wub: :D
 
Oh, yeah, those are very beautiful. Some ferrets are so red, it's just stunning... What cage do you have your guys and girls in? I have a Ferret Nation.

BTW, do you ever order from Ferret.com? If not, check it out. There prices are amazingly cheep. I feed my fuzzbuts Evo, and it's 30$ at my petstore. On ferret.com, it's 10$ cheaper! :good:

I'm in the UK so buy online here. I use a mixture of Vitalin & Alpha ferret kibble, and a little Omega cat biscs mixed in as a treat. They also have raw and cooked meats, plus a chick once a week. the Ferret Nations are excellent cages. My guys live outside. I have a 6' x 2' hutch over a 6' x 4' run. Then I have a 7' x 5' shed. The shed contains a 4' long triple tier hutch plus a Super Pet Multi Deluxe ferret cage. The hutch and cage are left permanently open so that the ferrets can free roam. They have lots of toys, hammocks, sleepsacks, igloos and tunnels.

I take them out for harness walks over our local parks. I often get asked what type of dog are they? !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
 
Aw, cute! I take them out too... There is a school close to my house, and sometimes I take my fuzzies there. Everyone loves them and crowds around them....


I gave Charlie his first walk the other day. Unusually, he actually pulled on the leash and marched down the street determinedly, knowing exactly where he wanted to go... to the petstore. LOL!

They are soooo funny!

Mine have been really struggling with the heat for the past two days. I've been spraying them loads and they love that,- but it's just too hot for them :sad: Oscar keeps sticking his whole head into one of the water bowls and swishing it all around in there. He looks so funny! :lol:
