Well I had big plans for my new female Plakat. Letting her live happily-ever-after with some snails in my new 10 gallon.

[Blatent Brag] I found my new ten gallon at a garage sale, with, get this:
1. Heater
2. Filter
3. Back up filter
4. Bubbler
5. Air Pump
6. background
7. Decorations
8. Thermometer
9. Gravel Vaccum
10. Back up supply of 5 air stones

For...$5!! [/Blatent Brag]

Anyway, she went into my quarentine tank, and has been letting us know her personality ever since. She flares at everything and bares her teeth when they come up for a peek at her tank. This includes the fish in the tank next door, Bob when he came to oggle her, and me when I come to feed her.) She has impressive little teeth, and when I fed her blood worms, she didn't nibble it like Admiral does. She does not chew it like Carl does, she doesn't even gobble it, like my old fish used to do. She kills it. She stalks it, hunts it, lunges forward and grabs it with such violence it carries her out of the water. Then she shakes it and *GULP* it is gone.

So there I was, staring at the place the bloodworms used to be, picturing the carnage that would occur in a 10 gallon tank, and I'm wondering if she is going to settle down or if I should never stick my hand in that tank while she's in it. :dunno:

ehh, im sure they have some sort of grinding teeth like things in there, but im not sure they can be called teeth :D

yes, some bettas will display hunting like behavior at feeding time, others just gulp it down, i guess u could call it playing with your food ;)

Yikes. I think she's a perfect candidate for living alone for the rest of her life.

Don't worry, though. If you stick your hand in and she bites it, it won't hurt unless she catches a sore. Even then, it won't hurt much.
