Hey guys! Today, I called my LFS to see if they had any dwarf cichlids in, or any kribs. They said "no". After that, I ended up desperately calling all of the fish stores in the phone book that were a reasonable distance away. Finally, after all of them saying, "Sorry, they aren't in stock" or, "We don't carry those" or even being closed, I was frustrated. I had waited almost two weeks to get a dwarf cichlid for my empty 17 gallon. Finally, there was one number left. The store was "Bird shop and Aquariums", and it said under the description that it had over 200 aquariums, and most of their fish were bred and raised at their store. I was impressed. I called them up, and again I got frustrated as a lady that didn't speak very good english barely understood my questions.
Finally, after explaining what I wanted a few times over, she told me that they didn't have any of the dwarf cichlids that I wanted, but they did have Gold Rams and one female kribensis. (Though I had wanted a pair.)

I was still unsatisfied, but I decided to go to take a look. When I got inside, I was shocked. There was a gigantic room full of aquarium supplies, and aquariums for sale. Then in the next room, which was even larger, as they stated, there were over 200 aquariums. The first thing that caught my eye was a 200 gallon saltwater display tank, with tangs and clown fish. They also had a 200 gallon display freshwater tank, planted tank, and brackish tank. The fish were amazingly healthy, and there was the hugest variety of fish for sale I had ever seen. I literally started hyperventilating.

I eventually found the female kribensis they told me about in the rows and rows of aquariums. She was very pretty, and very healthy. She was only 10.00$ Canadian. That was a deal, for me, especially since she was so healthy. I asked them if they would be getting in any males soon, and they said that they would in a couple weeks. I decided that I couldn't leave that female behind, and I would come back for the male in a couple weeks, even though I am unbelievably impatient. I also asked the guy there about some hardy plants for my aquarium, and he gave me the largest one (I think it was an Amazon sword plant, but I forget) for only 6.00$! I have to say, I was more than impressed, and this is now my favourite aquarium store - and it's not even an all fish store!

Anyhow, this is my new krib - she is lovely:
(The pictures will be on soon, my computer is not cooperating right now.... lol)

Thanks for reading! :good:

Congrats on the new Kribensis, she sounds lovely ;) Always nice to discover a new LFS.. Every now and then I take a trip to a new store that I have never been to, just to see what they have in store. I'm lucky living in London as we have LFS's all over the place so as long as you drive and have time there is always a new one to visit

congrats! before getting a blood parrot cichlid i debated setting up my tank as a krib breeding tank...but the new apartment just doesnt have the right layout to have a bunch of tanks like my old one...but one day! I cannot wait to see the picture!

Thanks, everyone! No, I cannot drive... I'm only 14, so my Mom does all of that for me. She also doesn't like taking me out to the pet store unless I need something, (or really want something) so I don't get to go very often to that store, at least. :(
Oh well.
:S

Okay, here are the pics!

ok, im super excited, super super excited, you live very very near me, i thought no one did! bird shop and aquariums is my favourite store in our city, the workers there are very very knowledgable, that 200 gallon saltwater cost them 69,000 dollars i think, either for the whole thing or just the live rock. one of there saltwater aquariums has been set up for 19 years!

OMG! That's SOO cool!
I honestly didn't think anyone lived in Canada on here! lol
Yes, they know a TON of things there, I am super satisfied!

I don't live SUPER close to the store.... but close enough. lol

Thanks for the reply. :good:

dont worry fry forever i am 14 to ughh moms can't live with them can't live with out them, that is one stunning fish

lol, 16 here, so the best i can do currently is drive my mom, (or other people with liscences for at least 3 years) around. it'll be nicer when i have my full liscence.

yea when i get mine in o 3ish years (that will be when all of the first year rules go by by and i think i will join a fish club in my area

That is a very nice female you have there. If you had a male they would already be moving gravel around in the cave.

Haha! Thanks, everyone! Yes, I'll be getting the male soon. Within a couple weeks at the most. (Yay!)

@ mr130gallon: What does Roger look like? I didn't ask any of their names, but the guy that helped me was probably in his late twenties/early thirties, and he seemed really shy. He didn't have glasses, but he had black hair and some facial hair.... That's as far as I remember.... lol

I am quite shy too, so I didn't really look at him when I talked to him....

Thanks again!

lol, i think thats roger, him and his brother work there, but im pretty sure he doesnt have glasses.

Your lucky were I live there is only 3 petstores with pretty limited stocking which is all about the same. Dont have any real fish stores just chain pet stores.
