I have my female betta Nira in a TALL 3 Gallon tank. she always seems very lonely. Ranger (my male betta) is on a tank on my desk, so he gets to watch the computer and hang out with me most of the day. Nira is on my head-board behind my bed and she always seems so lonely. She used to have two snails to hang out with and play with and bug, but I moved them both to different tanks and now she's all alone.

Is there any fish I could put in there with her? She attacked my two oto fish, so I'm a bit afraid she will attack any other fish I put in there, or try to eat any shrimp. Most of the fish that can defend themselves are big, and so I can't put any in the tank for her.

Any suggestions?

That's a tough one. Fish that aren't natural shoalers, don't get lonely, bored maybe. Add lots of plants fake or real, one of the floating Betta logs and maybe a small piece of bogwood, to give her things to explore.

I have a female betta in a 5g and I've been playing around with different layouts over the past few months and come to the conclusion that aslong as there is swimming room between the plants, put as many real ones as possible (if lighting allows for it). Make sure you leave an area of open swimming space but other than that cram as many things as possible in there(don't over clutter the tank up though, mine loves swimming Inbetween her plants and generally exploring as much as she can. At the end of the day think of it like this, imagine you were locked in your house forever, you have a pc with only 1 game on it but room for more, get as many as you can on that pc without clogging it up so much that it it doesn't run properly. Does that make sense : P?

Yes, thank you! I'll check out what they have at the store for her to play around with! Thanks!
