I've tried giving my pleco a carrot before but he didn't seem to notice it. Do I have to try dropping the carrot right in front of him or would he be able to figure out where it is sooner or later? :X Pardon me if this seems like a really dumb question!

I think he would figure it out... and don't worry, no question is stupid if you don't know the answer!

From my understanding, they will only go for it when it goes softer, so after it has been in the tank a day or two. Have you tried cucumber?

Oh I see.. maybe I should try leaving it at the front of the tank this time. No I haven't, my family hardly eats cucumbers heh

my fish get through a cucumber to thereselves weekly  they get carrot on Sundays and peas midweek

My fish love peas! Do you feed them veggies daily? I'm worried feeding them veggies daily would make them stop eating their flake food :S

PLEASE USE COURGETTE/ZUCHINI NOT CUCUMBER

hopefully everyone will heave heard that, its repeated ad infinitum, cucumber has sooo little nutritional value.

Carrot was pretty hit and miss for mine, pepper/capsicum was quite well received and peas are popular as above

None of my fish (or snails) will eat carrot. Tomato (an end slice with no seeds) is their fav.

I'm trying out the carrot again along with 2 spinach leaves :)

Willowstwin mentioned having to leave it in there for a few days.. how much longer can I leave it in there though? I have a big feeling it will be left untouched. :S

Pleco is totally ignoring the carrot! The spinach leaves are a hit with the swordtails though
