i decided that i would start feeding my fish only once a day since i fear i might be overfeeding them and contributing to some of the problems in the tank. now my fish always seem hungry and for the last couple of days they seem to be really hungry. everytime i come up to the tank, i really want to feed them as they seem to be begging for it. anyway, do you think that feeding them once a day just isn't enough?

I only feed my fish once every two or three days, its better for them in the long run and all my fish are large and healthy.

:flex: ♂ Trust me on this... don't go by how hungry your fish act. Fish
are little pigs, and will happily eat 2-3 times a day, maybe more. They act
crazy because that is the most excitement they have all day. Overfeeding is
not good for the fish, tank, or water quality. I say feed every other day.
You are not underfeeding them if you do this. In the wild, these fish just do
not eat that much, and they do fine. Definitely no more than once a day.
But every other day is best in my opinion. Believe me your fish will be fine,
and your water quality better.

I feed mine once a day
one day I feed crushed up sinking pellets and the next day frozen daphnia
If I can get hold of live bloodworms then I substitute this for what ever day that is. :S

I feed once a day and fast them one day a week - works for me :)

Though an artical in PFK suggested that for most fish 2 or 3 small meals a day was of most benifit.... :dunno:

Large predators however twice a week with about 3 days fasting...

:)

I used to feed once a day, although my girlfriend would often feed them when I was not around. Recently I decided to start feeding them twice or three times a day, to see if I could get them to grow a bit quicker. I think I am going to go back to once a day, however, because now I have one fish with bloat, and the tank gets messy much quicker.

Once a day and even that can be generous. Feeding fish can be difficult depending on the number and type you have. I'm going to an every other day feeding regime and a once a week one for my female Bettas until they've slimmed down some. They used to eat any food in the tank, even that for my Cories.

I feed mine once a day in two shifts once for the regular fish once at night for the catfish. I find a lot of people feed their fish more because they enjoy watching their fish get exited, or get annoyed at them begging for food.

OMG Iv been feeding twice a day, what ever they eat in 2-3 min. Thats for the angels and rainbows, the pl*cos get fed every 2nd or third day. I think Ill be cutting back for angel and friends then.

once a day for me, I was visiting a girl i know recently and while i was there she feed her fish some flake, One hour later there was still some food floating around and i could see it in filter sponge and on the gravel, Her fish just were not hungry. Like some other people said i skip a day every week, nearly all the food i put into the tank is eaten only the bits the powerfull filters suck up gets away but thats not much, I try and keep my fish hungry.

Im trying to keep to once a day, fish have just gone into the new tank today and now my sand has crap all over it!

thanks guys. :) so i'll definitely be feeding them once a day now. maybe even skipping a day once a week. i read somewhere that a hungry fish is a healthy fish, it's just so tempting to feed those little monsters :look:

Angels actually should be fed four times a day though small amounts.
