I have seen that it is good to feed fish with a piece of organic cucumber, i was just wondering if its ok to weigh the cucumber down with a small piece of lead ?

Not a great idea; stick a stainless steel teaspoon through it :)

Just as an aside, cucumber doesn't have many nutrients in it, so something like courgette or sweet potato would be better.

I always blanche my veggies (usually zucchini) before feeding them to the fish, and I usually stab it into a branch on my spider wood. All of my inhabitants go bananas.

I go with a fork. It's also a good conversation piece ("why do you have a fork in your tank?") for visitors.

Drill a small hole in the handle and tie some fishing line to it, then tie the other end to a small suction cup, then stick the suction cup to the outside of the tank, put preferred veg on fork and use fishing line to gently lower into tank. It saves you sticking your hand in the tank.

The teaspoon works just as well for initiating conversation. I've lost count of the times I've had people say, 'why is there a teaspoon in your fish tank?' :)
