You didn't add 'Yes, but only occasionally', my fish get a mixed diet, and some feeders about once a month. It's cruel to let the feeders live in those murky dirty overstocked tanks and die slowly than to let it happen quickly. I'm not a fan of it but it's a better ending all in all

Why is it cruel if it's replicating your fish's diet in the wild?.......

I didn't vote. I would say no, but I don't think it's stupid at all, I just dont have any fish that need feeders or the space to put a feeder tank.

Well i don't buy fish to feed fish, but i let my guppy fry fend off by themselves in the community tank. I don't have any more tanks to collect them.

Sure, if it makes my fish happy. You can go on about how it's in a closed environment, they have no chance, it's unnecessary, it's cruel, and all those other arguments, but when it comes right down to it, oh well. I don't view all fish equally, as if they have equal rights or some other projected anthropocentric quality. They live and die as I see fit. With a name such as "fish are my life," you obviously have strong feelings about how you treat your fish, and wish others to do as well. Good for you, and good luck, and I mean that with sincerity and not with sarcasm. I simply view this matter otherwise. Who knows, maybe you'll convince me otherwise, and that's what's great about these forums.

Its sad that people feel they have to feed helpless fish to another one.Ok, if its a piranha, fair enough, but if you just feel that you WANT to feed them just because, thats not fair. We have all this complete fish foods so you don't need to feed them other fish. If you want to feed them meaty foods, give them bloodworms or daphnia or something like that. I want to keep shrimp in my tank but I won't, because my fish would eat them, like they ate my molly fry.

Some fish will only eat live foods and as a result some are forced to feed live foods. But IMO it should be avoided if possible and to add to that they aren't a great source of nutrition and can transmit disease.

some people think that it's nice to let fish go after live vish well wot would you think if i put a fhish that eats fish u have in ur tank as a snack? some of u think it's replicating the wild enviroment well then why don't you make a river or create a lake for them now that would be replicating nature but then why do that feeder fish would actualy me able to run and hide in the wild!!!!!

:S i tried to add a reply but i dont think it took it.

so here it is again:

;) i dont think its cruel to keep feeder fish for those that require a live varied diet of sorts. i dont own these types of fish, although im sure any fish will eat another.

it is part of the life balance in the wild

and i totally disagree with the way pet stores can get away with animal cruelty letting feeder fish to spread plague and live in unsanitary waters.

i kept feeder guppies but i never fed them to any fish, so i can't vote.

but i think, if the fish require it, it's ok to feed them other fish. after all, fish is the number one ingredient in fish flakes, and i actually didn't know that before

ok, what would u feed a fish that only aint live food? a bloodworm would probably get stuck in its teeth and it would be deeply upset because it hadnt got a tooth pick ( ;) )

if u find feeder fish offencive, then its simple dont buy a predetory fish that u would HAVE to feed live fish to.

im not against it and i dont think its idiotic so i cant vote, they are trying to keep the fish in its best health... giving a predetory fish, frozen food all the time when its used to live food isnt doing as stated.

to do it for fun, is idiotic in my opnion, but doing it for the fish isnt.
