I received two feather duster hitchhikers, and the larger one, whose fan extends 1/2 - 3/4" wide, has started (or completed) making its tube. i was obviously unaware of its presence when arranging my lr, so the rock its in faces towards the inside of a cave which doesn't get alot of light. It is also located beneath a tunicate which popped up and is close it touches the feather duster.

Recently, since seeing its tube, it has been moving towards the front of the tank and into the light. Do they like the light, is that why its moving? Or possibly its because the tunicate touching it? I was just wondering why it would be bending like it is. I was thinking of rotating the rock anyways so it could be in better view.

from what i know, feather dusters do not require stronger lighting. Oh and i believe it can be moving into the open for a better flow to catch planktonic organisms in its "feathers"...IMO

Agreed, they respond more/better to flow rather than light.
