De Niro's "territory" is a piece of bogwood that is shaped like a rocket.

It's the piece on the left Excuse the watermarks on the tank....

I have a piece of bogwood but Louie doesn't like it? I guess they are all different, like us!

Thanks Bex. It's only just coming together now.

Some plecs dont bother with bogwood - panaques eat it (Royals etc) but L200s don't I think. It's just there to look pretty and let them hide.

Hello Kathy --

Nice catfish! Looks a good specimen, with the eyes bulging out properly. That's a very good sign. Sometimes, when stressed, the eyes go in (my has done this after a traumatic move, for example) but usually it means the fish is starved. So long as the eyes are out and the tummy is fully, you're laughing with this species.

Anyway, good luck with it. They are my absolute favourite plecs -- a nice combination of hardiness, colour, and personality. Oh, and if you have any plastic objects in the aquarium, look out for scrape marks. Mine removed the varnish and paint from a huge artificial cave thing (eventually it absorbed enough air or something to float!). It is currently working its way through the internal filter in the Rio 180 aquarium it inhabits. I have no doubt sooner or later it will dig its way through.

LOL - thanks for the warning Neale! This little fella has had a good munch at some courgette and of course the bogwood. He's settling in really well, and isn't shy at all! Makes a nice change considering De niro goes all stressy whenever anyone goes near the tank.
