How much did you pay for him? There is one in my lfs for £25. Is this a decent price?

No, I was right the first time wasn't I? You're getting a Royal Plec. They're the onlyl ones with red eyes that I know of anyway!
How exciting! Someone else said that Louie would be shy but he isn't! Only when you go up to the tank he swims off but most of the time he sits there right at the front for us to see!
Can't wait to see your new guy!

The Royal at my LFS was £60 but he was 6 1/2 inches. My Green Phantom was £42 but he was also pretty ig at 5 inches. Think it depends loads on the size.

LOL yes I'm getting a Royal, a young one of about 3-4". We've been very lucky because he's already been quarantined/acclimatised for over 3 weeks and is health as anything. Figured if we're upgrading to a big big tank, we might as well go full hog and get my dream fishy! I've wanted a Royal for years, so this is a majorly big deal for us *lol*.
John - we're paying £29.99. I've seen them cheaper online but then there's delivery, and you don't know if they've been properly acclimatised and I daren't take that risk. £25 is a very decent price for a young one - make sure he's eating well before you bring him home, no sunken eyes or thin belly etc.

He he, we're were gonna upgrade to a 300litre but now we have seen THE ONE! It's a 480litre!!! LOL!!!
I think that's about 125 gal so gonna get a couple more plecs as now I have one he is by far my favourite. They are very funny fish and I want more and I want a big one - plec that is LOL!

Yeah we're going up to a 5ft x 2ft x 2ft soon, can't wait, even drawn plans!

These are great fish. I've had one for about eleven years, and it's been one of my favourite fish. My tank is by the table where I work, and it has now become used to me sitting here during the day. So I get to watch it swim about when the lights are on. A lot of books will tell you these fish are totally nocturnal, but if they're happy they seem much more outgoing. What seems to help is having lots of small dither fish (such as tetras) swimming about, as these help the panaque feel safer.
Anyway, here is a movie I took a few weeks ago, which I hope will whet your appetite! She's about 15 cm long here, which is apparently quite small for a fish of this age. She's eating cucumber peel, which is absolutely her favourite food.

We've been seeking advice left right and centre before doing this and I'm so pleased we've had so much great advice on compatability/diet etc. I didn't know we could have a Royal, and I'm so pleased we can. And to have one that's been sitting waiting for a while and who isn't freshly into the LFS is fantastic.

When we get our big FO tanks we can have "Who has the best plec" comp. You will prob win with a Royal and you gorg Gibby though. I can see me spending lots of cash on cool plecs!
