I was at WM today doing a "wellness check" and noticed a betta who had extremely long Pectoral fins, is this common?
His were almost back to the start of his tail. Very beautiful, took me alot not to buy him... I may go check on him again tomorrow though. :D

That's quite unusual. The largest I've ever seen are BettaMomma's Gabriel, and those are QUITE huge and unusual.

The fins on the sides of their bodies, behind the gills. They are typically clear, though some Bettas have coloring on them.

yes i was right! on my bettas, they r a redish see through, on both of them.

His were the longest I've ever seen, and one was red, one was clear. We'll see if he's still there tomorrow.

hehe :p

Yeah, Siam has VERY long pectoral fins too. They're almost past where his tail starts! They're white, and stunning against his red body  hehe ^_~

It's not particularly common, but I have seen bettas like that at my local Walmart.. and owned two of them, though sadly one died when he got fungus when I was on vacation last year.

Bartleby (RIP -- and no, he didn't have popeye; his eyes were naturally a little buggy :) )

Here's my Gabriel

This shot looks a tad bit creepy, but it shows how big his pecs are.
Here are some more normal ones:

I'm pretty sure when they have pecs this big, it's a sure sign that they work out. :flex:

Well, I went to check on him today, and he's got a huge slice out of his anal fin, so he came home with me. Pics will be posted later. :) :)
