TEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAM TETRATEC!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:D :D :D

The 1200 would be perfect for your sized tank.

How much ? the tank i have comes with an aqua one aquis 750 but i might be persuaded to flog it if everyone says the tetratec is better. Incidentally the bloke who owns Dicker Aquatics near Eastbourne says Tetratec are rubbish. But then he sells Aqua One stuff lol. It does annoy me when LFS people just diss everything they dont sell and only big up the stuff they do !!! Grrr. I want something thats Q U I E T as a church mouse as its going in my bedroom
The guy in Dicker Aquatics is a bleep bleep.......( I am originally from Hastings.....so know him quite well ...as I am also into marine fish )

Also look at the dates of reviews tetratec did have a problem with the old model seals blowing, the new models are bullet proof. A tetratec 1200 can be picked for £85 new with warrenty. Im sure there are better filter out there maybe but at the price range and anywere close there are none imo :good:

Lots of people have gone with the APS range, but its cheaper for a reason.

I have heard they feel and look plasticy, hence the price on them, but if they do the job, and do the job good then I can't see anything wrong with them

Yes the problem with the API filters, is that there is no 'removable' section (as is seen on the Fluval, JBL etc. models).

Which makes maintainance a bit more tricksy too.

Also, price wise: I suppose you get what you pay for really!

I was always a fluval man before I found JBL.

nnurglespuss you had a late night mate lol :good:

Aps externals are the same design as others like tetratec but the build of the unit are shocking on APS the pipes get brittle and can snap over time, the flow is joke the 2000LPH flows approx 900lph with media in. I have a APS filter here i now use to to collect my coppers :good:

Yeah no rest for the wicked! ;p

LOL

Its too warm for the time of year.

But yes, I don't like the look of those Aps ones!

The other onw that I would rather like to try (though a bit of an expensive experiment) is the Rena Nexx external filter...

Just need an excuse for another tank ;p

APS Filters are ok... the pipework is what lets them down. I have the 100 model and it just about copes to run a 88 litre tank with 3 Puffers in it. The only model i would ever consider buying now is the 2000lph model.

The 1200's are seemingly bullet proof, and if you happen to run into an older model which leaks then TetraTEC will send you the replacement hose adaptor for free, even if the filter has been purchased second hand. Heck, if i could purchase some leaky 1200's then i would do, i think they're fantastic.

The only external filter that is a chinque in their Armour is the 2400. It is very noisy indeed. The flow is excellent but the noise is awful.

Sera do a range that include a UV filter. Anyone used that type ? I got my tank today and it came with an Aqua One Aquis Advance 750. Not set anything up yet so may lest the filter and upgrade OR live with it. I like the look of the Sera UV ones, but again, wondering if the UV is a gimmick and the price just partly for the name.

Lol Hey Rillo, Yeah he strikes me as a TOTAL bleeping bleep, LOL. Also I noticed half the plants he is selling are non aquatic, and he has not bothered to announce the new Juwel promotions, all his tanks are at big money prices and his fish are up to 50% pricier than other places. Oh well, guess theres a reason it's stuck out on that road, hehe.

Fish and Fins ? Where abouts is that ?

The UV isn't necessary.

LOL, care to elaborate Minnnt ? Im "led to believe" that they can reduce the chances of algal blooms and minimise pathogens even in a freshwater environment. Or is this just sales banter ?

VERY expensive ! The replacement cartridges are £12.95 for two. You have to replace them BOTH every fortnight. Thats £336.70 per annum, plus their recommendation to renew some of the "biostars", every time you do a filter change. I reckon you'd be looking at about £400 a year just to keep it in media !!! Gotta hand it to their marketing guys, lol.
