External Filter - Where To Place Intake?

Hi all
quick question, will be installing a Fluval 405 tomorrow in my Juwel tank, which i'm going to keep my internal filter running
with the new external, which end should i place the new external intake and out take valves?
does it matter? or should the intake go the same end as the juwel

What shape is the tank and what are your fish? You want to have maximum water movement but depending on the stocking you may not want a strong current in a circular direction. Depending on the shape of the tank you may create dead spots that results in a build up of unfiltered watered in a corner.

On my roma 240 both flow and return are together, so you could have fluval 405 operating the opposite side to your exsisting filter.
