HI guys I'm hopefully going to be getting a 200ltr tank in the next few weeks, i was looking at external filters for it but i don't know what is best.

I quite like the Fluval G3 Advanced Filtration System (300L), i really like the features on that one like water temp etc.

Thanks for advice

Hi,

Depends what you are going to keep in the tank, is it planted, heavily stocked etc.

Short answer is the more filtration you can have the better, I always aim for 10x circulation for my planted tanks but if you intend on keeping delicate fish you may need to dempen down the flow.  G3 looks like a good foliter but I have no experience with them, Eheim have always been my filter of choice and are bullet proof as well as silent running, Pro 3 thermo 2180 is a brilliant filter and has a built in heater element so one less aplliance in the tank, not cheap though!"

I'm not too sure on stocking yet but yes it will be a planted tank

i'm also an eheim fan ....expensive but ive never had a problem

I am using an Eheim 2073 to filter my 200 litre tank.....pricey but a quality filter

Very specific not much options and quite expensive media with the Fluval G3, Fluval 306 will do fine, works well for my heavily stocked 200L the 406 quite a bit larger would give you more flow rate.

I have a Ecco pro 300 + 250 classic on my 200L, pretty good as you can stuff anything inside them, Plus a 2500lph power head and its ok for pretty much any fish... current isnt that strong, thinking about an additional pump at some point because I have barbs. Great thing about two filters is; when you inevitably break the handle on the ecco pro (flimsy darn thing) you can order the spare parts on ebay and can carry on filtering with one filter while you service the other :)

on my 200lt i am running 2 eheims,2071+2073.nice and quiet and my water is super clear, amazing the amount of waste they keep inside and stop going back into tank.

i did have a tetratec 1200 on tank to start but didnt like it as to noisy/constant hum so that went in favor of the eheims
