When in doubt, go with a wet/dry sump. Even a Pre-fab store bought wet/dry will proba ly cost less than the FX5. Or if you're handy you can just build one yourself.

on, this, we very much agree. :good: :good: but, there is a lot to get your head around. especially if your only experience is, internal/cannisters.

I got confused when i last looked into making one, the pre made ones look alright but cant fit one in the stand for mine.

theyre really a lot easier than they look. and if you build one yourself, you can make it fit in just about any space you need to.
it took me a little bit of explaining to get my head around the concept. but once i got it, i realized how simple it really is. i think its more difficult to explain than to build. lol.

these days i use them almost exclusively because of the flexibility of the system. you control everything. flow rate, circulation, intake/return placement, media capacity, types of media used, etc. there is really no comparison. also, the added water volume of your sump makes for much more stable water parameters.

Well, I'm going to turn my 190L into a marine, so I shall be putting my Aquis CF1000 filter onto my 5ft once it is empty. So I'll have an FX5 and a CF1000 running, which should be plenttty of filteration :good:
