I saw some of these at one of the lfs's around here...I asked about them and why they looked like they did....the guy said that they are a natural breed of oscar....not like tigers and such....I dunno if he was just making it up or if he is right. :dunno: I just tried to look them up, but couldn't find any info. They sure are beautiful though.

Thanks freshmike,
but if you don't know they probally will remain a mistery."Not many people know as much about fish as you.

they are tigers with different color schemes
Did you get that info from an website? If so where? I would like to get some more variations of the same fish. :dunno:

i know from experience. some oscars have vibrant colors but dull out as they grow. some just dont have good colors while others do. the lfs will tell you anything to make them sound better. people will probably buy "electric oscars" over tiger oscars because of the name. do a general search on oscar juvies and you might find some nice pics

I like this quote from the second link you posted...Nice pictures though!

"Blueberry/Raspberry Oscars. You can also find blueberry and raspberry oscars upon occasion. Both these varieties are actually albino oscars colored with dye. The dye completely disappears within three months. You then have a regular albino oscar. (We wish we had invented the process and patented it. We’d open little shops around the country that would re-dye painted fish. For a nice price, of course.)"

I heard of people dyeing fish too, I buy all of my fish from a chain in my area called petsmart. There a large chain and it's pretty hard to come by odd fish but I really trust there biusness.

Thats what a common Oscar looks like, I've seen them called Black Oscars but yeah..

Kinda odd that Tiger ext. Oscars are more common then the common Oscar

^^ I'm talking about Venus
