Hi Guys,

I have started getting molly fry 3 weeks ago from my mollies.
If anyone is in Glasgow area I am exchanging these for either harlequin or swordtail or platty or even other molly just to mix the blood a bit.

I still keep these on the box cause they are still getting harrased by their bigger kins. Planning to put these on my Breeder tank when the water in this is set.

Sorry not sure exactly what you are trying to do here. But mollies breed with mollies etc. etc.

Right now I have just simple mollies in my tank and these mostly came from 3 batches from 2 petshops.
So I looking to add also swordtails, harlequin and platy to the tank. Or to just change molly with molly so as to mix the blood and avoid deformations from next generations.

So you have a few generations to go through before you have to worry about inbreeding deformities. But introducing some other fish to your tank is a good idea, What is the size of your tank and its parameters.

I know from previous experience that you can get deformities rather quickly so the faster you mix the blood the better.

It will take a number of generations of inbreeding before you'll get deformities. If you had deformities earlier, it means that the fish you've used were already inbreds. Even if you had them from another store, they could still be related if the stores got them from the same wholesaler.

Well this is what usually happens when you get these from stores. That's why these look alike on most of the cases.

In your case, you'd be better off trying to get new blood from a private breeder. Unless, they've got them from the same source.

Not sure if there is such kind here 'Private breeder'
Most of the fishes here are coming from abroad as far as I know and one supplier which I think he was also a breeder told me that he only sells to shops.
So in a few word I am the closest example of 'Private Breeder' here and I am looking for other people like me near by so we can exchange.

It's a weird thing, but where I am, the fishkeepers seem to prefer to keep to themselves. I know they're 'out there', simply because the three shops I have access to do good business. In a previous life, I had access to quite an extensive network, which was useful for swapping fish and plants, if nothing else. Perhaps you could watch the customers in your local fish shops and them sidle up to them in the carpark...pssst...want some baby mollies? Nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more, say no more.
