I have a 125gal tank. Sorry, American with no litre conversion table. Ha.
Loved my Mnumba African Ciclids. Awesome personalities, but very aggressive all the time. Bored with an all rock ugly tank for them and too expensive to replace their gangwars. Ha again.
Want to move to firemouths as they have personality too. But looking to have them (breeding pair) with a community. So, here I am. Smart on African, but dumb on others

to TFF! Hope you enjoy it here. Got any pics?

Sorry to say I don't. Its been a couple of years since I had it set up. Heart issues and surgeries kept me from caring for them. But, feelin froggy again. Decided I wanted to set up tank with plants this time and I like firemouths. Tank will be their home with any suggested additions as a community. Not interested in, tho colorful, platys, swordfish. Boring to me. Looking for personality to stare down for hours on end. Ha. Any ideas? Thot about an all shark, catfish tank. Decided against that. My Africans were my buddies. Theyd hang around my hands to pet them. Sharks r too jittery for that.
Thanks for the welcome and any ideas.

I would personally start a new thread to look for suggestions as you'll get more responses that way, and include info on your pH and water hardness.
But if just naming fish that have personality that I enjoy..I really do love my half-banded eel and leopard bush fish, as well as my angelfish. :)

Yeyhaw! Was hoping someone would say eel. Awesome. Angel fish not too nervous for firemouths? Like angels, but know them and tiger barbs don't get along. Always stressed and chewed up. 20yrs ago experience (beginner then).

I'm sorry I have no idea how they would be with firemouths, I've never had those.

Angels havn't been nervous in my experience..actually I am going to be re-homing mine soon as they've been outcompeting my other fish for food and picking on the half-banded eel.
You're right though you don't want to put them with fish that would nip their flowy fins.

Hi, I have kept a breeding pair of Firemouths successfully with Angelfish. I found that the Firemouths occupied the lower half of the tank whilst the Angels were in the top half. My tank was heavily planted so there were loads of places to hide!
