I currently have a dividied 5 gallon tank on one side is my Red Vt with very fancy pectoral fins called Fly and and on the other is my white DT half moon called eminem. for the past week i have been waking every morning to find that Fly is getting into Eninem side of the tank. i've checked the divider and there are no gaps and theres no space to jump. Luckily they don't seem to be doing any damage to each other yet they just both swim beside each other and look at me as if to say "what can't you figure it out!! ?"
Today i've put in a second divider to see if that stops them but i swear they are laughing at me !! maybe they've dug a secret tunnel or something :dunno: Any one else got any ideas how they do it?

theres a gravel substrate and i have even put rocks along the sides of the divider to stop them. i'm thinking fly has actually learnt how to fly as well as open tank lids!! Unless fish have actually invented transporters!!

Does the canvas touch the tank lid, or does it stop short?

They can figure out how to jump through/and over the tinest of places.

Definitely a case of teleporter!! 'Beam me up scotty'!!!
I have to admit I would use a camcorder to figure this one out! I would love to know how they've done it!!!!
At least they are not hurting each other....that's one good thing although I wouldn't temp fate!!!

I have the same problem each and every time I clean the tanks and reposition the plastic canvas dividers. They immediately go into patrol mode to find a tiny spot that I can't see or feel in order to get to the other side. All I need to do is turn my back and they are at it.... shredded fins.

I have even gotten to the point where I just change the water at times because it's so frustrating.
