When I used to have some, they took a while to get going, but once they did there were empty shells everywhere.

I find it rare to see my assassins actualy killng somthing but when I introduce new plants I often find a small shell or two that they have sucked the juicy bits out of. They are like very slow Ninjas.

yes, mine did the same thing...but give it some time and you will have more empty snail shells than you know what to do with :D

Out of interest how big are assassin snails? I'm wanting to get 1 but have a zebra nerite snail in my tank which I don't want eating lol

An adult assassin is a little smaller than a zebra, but I still wouldn't risk it.

Nemo, to answer your question, assassins aren't like fish, in that they won't eat for the sake of eating. When they want a snail, they will get one - I would suggest that yours just wasn't hungry when the pest snail went past.

Question: I have apple snails in my tank - would assassin snails be okay to put in?
