I'm not sure if something is wrong with me, but I seem to be collecting geophagus at an alarming rate lately. Thankfully, I have plenty of tanks so they won't want for space...at least for the time being.

I'm a bit confused by my new geo's eating habits - it will only eat food from the substrate. At feeding time, all of my other geos will readily eat from the surface, and only return to sand sifting once all the free-floating food's been eaten. I know geos have a tendency to eat from the substrate (the clue's in the name!), but this is the first specimen I've had that exclusively eats from the tank floor. I'm starting to worry about him getting enough food as his/her tank mates include some very, very greedy rainbowfish. Anyone experienced this before? Here's the new geo:

It may just be because hes new and has to learn that the floating food is food, i havent had any of my geos do this before so theres no hints i can add, except for maybe putting in some flakes then putting in a LOT bloodworms so some get to the bottom so he can get some food, and then maybe he will eventually start looking up for food.

Seems you were right, Saw. He just needed time to settle in and is eating from the surface now like everyone else.
