i purchased my brothers tank with sand already.I filled it up and thousands of empty snail shells floated up.I must of cleaned out about athousand or so and theres still thousands to go.Is there anyway to get rid of them all. Some r also burried in the sand still.

Personally i would throw it all out, Including the sand, as you said there could be thousands.Start a fresh mate or have you got a gravel vac?

its already filled and started cycling so is there anyway to change the sand with with water in it

grab a net and put ut hand in the tank. swish teh water arround to disrupt teh substrate then quickly swish ur net threw back and forth. repeat and you should see a bit of a difference.
regards, communtiy..

as mentiones Gravel Vac should suck the sand out but keep the shells in the tank.
then pick the shells up and replace the sand,

if you have a fish net with larger holes in it lets the sand out and the snails will still be in the net. i use one to seive through my sand for trumpet snails.
