I have an empty 10 gallon tank in my tank that has been running for the last 2 months, empty except for some pond snails. I'm tired of looking at it's emptiness and I want to do something with it but I don't know what.

I don't know if I should add some simple fish, add a betta, frogs, snails, plants...the possibilities are endless but it would have to be simple and inexpensive.

Are there any creative minds out there that could help me come up with something??
Pictures for sample ideas, examples, etc. would be very very helpful.

Thanks!! :D

as soon as i get my hood and heater in the mail, i'm setting up a 10g with either a few fancy guppies and some ADFs, crayfish or ghost shrimp.

how about some celestial pearl danios. they are small and you could gete a group of 5-6 in there i think.

How about some simple Zebra Danios? Petsmart sells them for $0.59 :)

If you put a bunch of java moss in there along with a few pairs of scarlet badis badis and some shrimp it would look really cool, but it might be hard to find the scarlet badis badis

I wouldnt have said this before tonight after i added my 4 zebra danios to my new tank, but id go with them,, could breed or just enjoy their amazin look... i have 2 normal guys and 2 im guessing are albino ones (they are a yellowish color) and they look great off the black and blue substrate,, but any substrate,, id go with them... great when they havce swimming room and are confortable... you could also add either a betta or dwarf gourami (NOT both, not compatable)... and some adf's... My opinion anyways...

Put in some nice neutral gravel (taupe color), low light live plants if you wish. Then add some neon tetras, if you have the capacity get a 50/50 bulb with the actinic lighting and wow, that is a punch of color IMO....... :good:

First thing...in the New to the Hobby section there is an excellent stickied thread called "Recommendations for a 10 gallon" which has some really interesting choices.

Secondly...I do NOT recommend danios for a 10 gallon, because they are far too active, and thus need more swim space.

My recommendation: Build a divider to split the tank in half. Maybe different plants/substrate in each half for more visual interest, and then a betta on each side.

psuedomugil rainbowfish.

Colorful and interesting. Most species are about 1 inch in length. They can be tricky to find (at least in my area).

A small group of parotocinclus....

Edit; I'd second Aphox by saying NO danios in a ten gal....

Plant it up loads and get 2 dwarf puffers and a few ottos. Beautiful fish with so much personality you can't not love them!
