Eheim Filter 2217

IS the Eheim Filter 2217 the right size for a 90 gallon tank. Tank wont be to max fish load range of 30-60, some plants later on 4-8.

how does the RENA Filstar XP 3 compar to the 2217?

A 2217 will easily filter a 90g on its own, they are rated for tanks up to 159 US gallons with normal stocking levels. The Rena compares like comparing a sports car to a family saloon, theyre just not in the same league.

Eheims are superior to most other filters in every way, you wouldnt go wrong by buying one.
