Eheim Compact 1000

I've recieved my Eheim Compact 1000 today. I just thought I'd post so that anyone else considering one and hoping for a quiet pump will not be disappointed. This pump is loud.

I know noise is a subjective thing but I have this tank in my bedroom and obviously that means I need to have quiet kit so as not to be too disturbed by it when sleeping. I've spent a lot of time getting my computer to a point where it only makes a small amount of noise so anything louder than this is unacceptable to me.

The compact 1000 drowns out the quiet hum of my computer altogether - I will be reinstalling the near silent Accela pump as soon as I find a new impeller.

first ive heard of a noisy eheim pump.

Ive got a
eheim compact + 2000 which is almost near silent
eheim compact 600 which is completely silent
eheim 1260 which has a slight hum and rattles if its up again the wall.

i would say youve got a dodgy pump. only time my compact+ 2000 made any noise was when it took up a very little bit of Live rock from the sump and was grinding. (Took the pump apart cleaned and it runs perfectly.)

btw this pump is also in my bedroom and can't hear the compact+ 2000 or the compact 600
