:) Eggs! Wow Im Pretty Excited!

I have very tired eyes lol. Do check them if there are fuzzy ones taken them. My eggs have been very different but then cory eggs vary widely over the species. How long have you had these eggs now?

p.s. reason ask is on average eggs hatch on day 4 (from my experience) but some may take up to 10 from readings!)

Perhaps give till the end of the week? Is there just one of each of the species in the tank? I would be checking on them daily!

Hows the eggs?

I've had mine since the 21st also, and they're getting close, either today or tomorrow with mine, they have been taking 5-6 days lately.

Just keep a check on them, temperature plays a lot also, since i've had my fry tank on 22 degrees, the eggs have been taking longer to hatch.

well the temp in there is 25, the eggs are a real deep cream in colour, one looks like something tryed to break out of it, there is a little black spot on it, there is a constant flow over them as the filter is spraying straight over them....:( they have still no hatched ive been checking every day hoping and hoping, and i keep looking on the floor of the tank to see if i can see the little baby that hatched....:(

If the eggs are good, they will hatch, its certainly a waiting game, the more you want to them hatch,,the longer they seem to take

so i took a look at em today...again...and alot of them seem to have a very deep cream colour to them...but some also have a dark blackish area to them aswell, only thing is they look like they may have some kind of fungus growing on them :( how can i stop this?? there in direct flow of the filter!

""edit""

my mollys wont stop trying to eat them through the net there in...could this be bad?? in fact you know what....guys anyone who has raised them could you post the pictures of the conditions you keep them in?? like nest, who else is in the tank etc... :good:

Hmmmm the fuzz may be a bad sign but hold on in there. The black dot is definately a hatchable egg. I havent managed to raise mine to adulthood yet, my latest success is with my two caudimaculatus cory who are 6 weeks old +. Any eggs I have ever had from the caudis or pygmies I put in a net much like you and usually had a filter pump through a airstone directly underneath or in the case of my two hatclings there are two filters in the tank and placed directly in front of one. Some say to use drops of meth blue this is a antifungalcide (I think) that helps to stop fungus growing. The only thing I would say with eggs is it is a learning curve over time and you soon get used to the bad uns and get them out early. Still hold out as you may think nothing is happening and then what you know it there are some bobbing frylets. As to the mollys unsure, none of my community fish have been this persistent, depends on the netting and whether you think they are strong enough to damage?

Another good method is to float them in a tub in the tank they came from with a small airstone in with them and once they have hatched transfer elsewhere. This may be good for you to stop them being picked at and have perhaps more direct airflow??

well, the mollys only go at them every now and then, when i was watching them they was after the crap coming fromt he filter as i had to pull it down and repair it about 2 hours ago...i thought the net was in direct flow....it was but didnt relise my filter had stoped working!! well more like clogged up, it gets clooged pretty quick, real odd anyway thats anouther story, i tryed teh air stone under them but it raised the net out of the water and didnt let the bubbles through it so i couldnt do it that way, not sure how else i could do it, ive thought about a plastic tub with holes in the side but then im worried my hatchlins will get blow out of these when they break out of there egg, also! i found a empty shell in the net......not hatching mind you???

You don't really need holes in the tub,has long as you have an airstone in the tub,to gently stir the water around, the empty egg could've hatched and the molly pulled the fry through the net??

I just have fry in my tank so no fish attacking the eggs in the net.

To get them out of the mollys way i would put the eggs into a floating tub on top of your tank with an airstone(you can always use a peg or double magnet to stick the tub to the side of your tank)

no, the eggs all seem to be stuck to each other....i dont think im going to get any hatchings but im going to give them untill day 10 then it will be into the triops tank :( how often to corys spawn?

Depends on the cories I think, as you know still relatively new, some will once with a large batch, others will do smaller batches over several days. There are some ways and techniques to help instigate a spawn but to be honest keep an eye out for them as cories from what I have read only spawn when happy and will do so again. These ones may not have been fertilised by inexperience, practice will make perfect! Oh and one thing someone else said on here all too true "dont mess with success!"

I agree with amy, they're obviously happy to spawn once,so hopefully, they will do it again :good:

I'm lucky with my trilineatus, they seem happy to spawn regularly, not tons of eggs,on average around 10,but enough to keep ticking over, they've been like it non stop since september,i sure they must be due a rest

Sorry to hear they haven't hatched yet,but like you say, give it a bit longer :good:

i would put the eggs into their own container/yogyurt pot of somekind with an air stone as mentioned above, because even small particles of food given to the other fish can stick to the eggs and this is enough to start the fungus off. they need clean water from the tank and an airstone and thats about it.
just to add my corys hit me with anything between 20 and 40 eggs in one go with about 3 weeks gap inbetween so dont get too upset if you dont see any more eggs for a few weeks, im sure they will spawn again for you just keep them fed well :good:
