hiya guys n gals

ive just come into my room to find 5 little eggs stuck to the glass

i tried to retrieve them as my platties were tryin to eat them......but 3 of them floated into my filter....but im thinkin they stuck on the plastic inside....hopefully

i got 4 cory's (1 of which has been acting strange)
2 silver sharks
3 synodontis cats
and a rainbow fish

any1 got any ideas who the eggs are from?

Tek :fish:

well it looks like 1 of my cory's is doin it.......its just laid 7 more on my filter so ive removed them and put them in a plastic cup filled with tank water and put that inside my tank

Wow, I was wondering if you could tell me what you mean by acting strange. I also have a cory who is acting strange, it is quite fat and in the back corner of my tank. Sandy

well she sort of not lying on her belly......more on her side or her back but her breathin is normal n she lays there still for ages

she also swims in short bursts n waggles her tail lots without movin anywhere

Mine is in the back corner of the tank, and will scoot up the glass then back down to its spot behind a plant. There is also another cory who is on the other side of the plant who looks like it is on guard. If any of the other corys go near the corner that the big one is in, it chases them. I have been watching them for 2 days do this. I am really confused with their behavior. Sandy

Thats cool that ur corys r breeding there ment to be very very hard to breed in an aqucarium good luck!

thanks snotirl

i think the mother fish has died tho :-(

she didnt lay many eggs.....only about 15 so im thinkin there must have been a problem with the pregnancy coz she was acting very strange for a few days

hopefully the eggs will hatch soon......how long do fish eggs take to hatch???

There's an article about breeding Corys here.

Ray Cooke, a good friend of mine, chairman of our society and a leading judge on the UK circuit, used to breed them. A little tip he always had was to do a 10% water change in the breeding tank, but to use cold water, it often induces reluctant fish to begin. He kept dozens of Cory species. Sadly, he developed motor neurone disease and died a few years ago.

sorry to hear about the loss of ur close friend

i shall read the article and im sure it will give me the advice that i need

thanks lateral
