hi all
i thought i would share my news
today i became a koi mum :hyper:
after 3 years of trying i finally have koi eggs
i got up for work today heard splashing and thought the goldies are at it again and off to work i went ,well got home from work tonight and the hubby says we have eggs, so i said yeah i heard the golides at it again
so hubby then tells me no we have koi eggs and theres thousands in the vortex.
so like a demented fool i run out into the garden at 1am and opens the filter and there they are the long awaited eggs :good:
so tomorrow i will harvest the fertilized eggs and hopefully manage to raise one or two koi eggs ,lucky i kept the hatchery from the goldy babbies i have raised in the past,so i now have to start maturing filter media for the long task of koi fry rearing  and i cant wait

Fantastic!!!

You will be surprised how fast koi develop.

I highly highly suggest raising as many as you have tank space for. Fish shops will usually give you $1 each for juvie (2") Koi. If you can get 100 to 2" you just made $100!!!

hi
i have taken some pics dont know how good they are

well the eggs are ok upto know just a waiting game to see if they will hatch

Fantastic news!!! Well done, hope you can get lots of little ones!! It will be great to see them grow and see what colours they develop into.

When they hatch they will feed on gunk in the tank so make sure you squeeze some filter gunk in the water for them.

hi
if and its a big if some do hatch as dad is young and i dont think he knew where to put himself lol
i will do like i did with the goldies let the algea grow on the inside of the tank and will also feed a high protien powdered food once they have used up their egg sack so usually start feeding around 3 -4 days old

well found one maybe two babies i think i keep counting the same one lol
they started to hatch today
lets hope i can keep it alive
